Whether you're seeking help for a new injury, chronic condition, or general health concern, our evaluations are comprehensive, collaborative, and tailored to identify the root causes—not just symptoms.

Some insurance panels require us to have a separate evaluation from treatment.

This category also includes herbal consultations if you're interested in purely Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine.

Following guidelines set forth by the majority of in-network health insurance plans, choose this option if you are experiencing:

Covered Conditions are limited to musculoskeletal conditions and pain syndromes:

Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome defined: Conditions with associated musculoskeletal signs and symptoms related to a sensation of hurting or strong discomfort caused by an injury, illness, disease, functional disorder, or condition. Musculoskeletal Pain disorders are typically categorized as structural, degenerative or inflammatory disorders, or biomechanical dysfunction of the joints of the body and/or related components of the neuromusculoskeletal system (muscles, tendons, fascia, nerves, ligaments/capsules, discs, and synovial structures) and related neurological manifestations or conditions.

In order for us to properly bill your health insurance plan, we must follow your plans' guidelines. If you are experiencing any condition not related to the above, then choose the non-insurance acupuncture options.

When it comes to your health, insurance shouldn’t dictate your results. At Box Acupuncture, our out-of-pocket model allows us to offer the highest level of personalized, uninterrupted care, designed around you, not billing codes.

Choosing to invest in private-pay acupuncture means:

✅ More Time With Your Provider
No rushed 15-minute slots or shared visits. Our sessions are 45–75 minutes of dedicated one-on-one time, every single time.

✅ Personalized, Not Protocol-Driven
Insurance-based acupuncture often follows rigid templates. We customize every treatment based on how you're feeling that day—physically, emotionally, and energetically.

✅ Access to Advanced Modalities
From dry needling and electroacupuncture to myofascial cupping and red light therapy, our full toolbox is available to you, not just what insurance allows.

✅ Freedom to Treat the Whole You
We’re not limited by symptom-based diagnosis codes. We treat root causes, patterns, and preventative health—not just what’s “billable.”

✅ Consistency & Continuity of Care
No surprise denials, limited visits, or network barriers. You’re in control of your care plan—and you never have to stop mid-progress because of insurance limits.

Please consider this option if you need more one-on-one time or want to invest in your health without the oversight of health insurance.

All treatments are FSA/HSA eligible and we can create superbills for reimbursement.

Myofascial Cupping Therapy is a modern, evidence-informed adaptation of Traditional Chinese Medicine cupping. This technique is used therapeutically to target fascia, trigger points, and muscular adhesions—making it ideal for pain relief, athletic recovery, and improved mobility.

Using fire-based glass cupping or plastic cups with adjustable suction, our practitioners gently lift the skin and fascia away from the muscle layer, promoting circulation, lymphatic drainage, and neuromuscular release. This decompressive effect allows tissue layers to glide more freely, accelerates healing, and relieves deep tension.

Trigger Point Acupuncture & Dry Needling Therapy

Dry Needling and Trigger Point Acupuncture are advanced, evidence-based techniques that target muscular pain and dysfunction at its source—the myofascial trigger point.

Using very fine, sterile needles (acupuncture needles), we stimulate tight, irritable bands of muscle—called trigger points—to release deep tension, restore normal muscle function, and reduce pain. The needle is inserted directly into the muscle knot, causing a localized twitch response that leads to immediate improvement in mobility, circulation, and pain relief.

At Box Acupuncture, Dr. Aaron is certified in both Western orthopedic dry needling (Myopain Seminars) and Traditional Chinese Medical trigger point techniques, allowing for a fully integrative and tailored treatment approach.

Pelvic floor dysfunction isn’t just a women’s health issue. Millions of men silently struggle with chronic pelvic pain, tightness, sexual dysfunction, urinary symptoms, and postural issues linked to an overactive or inhibited pelvic floor.

At Box Acupuncture, Dr. Aaron specializes in Men’s Health Pelvic Floor Acupuncture and Dry Needling, offering targeted, discreet, and highly effective treatment for male patients—especially athletes, active professionals, and those recovering from injury or surgery.

Pelvic floor acupuncture and dry needling use ultra-fine needles to release trigger points, decompress nerves, and reset neuromuscular function in deep pelvic and core muscles. This includes:

External pelvic floor muscles (perineum, ischiocavernosus, bulbospongiosus)

Deep core stabilizers (obturator internus, piriformis, adductors, glutes)

Accessory and postural muscles (QL, iliacus, TFL, pelvic diaphragm)

Fascial and nerve pathways that affect the bladder, prostate, and pelvic pain

We assess and treat the entire kinetic chain—from your hip mobility and core control to fascial restrictions and pelvic rotation patterns.

Medical Therapeutic Massage is a targeted, outcome-based treatment designed to address specific musculoskeletal conditions, not just promote relaxation. Unlike spa or wellness massages, this form of massage is grounded in clinical anatomy and tailored to your pain patterns, postural imbalances, and recovery goals.

Sessions are customized to each patient, integrating techniques like deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, joint mobilization, and neuromuscular re-education.

At Box Acupuncture, our massage therapists work closely with acupuncturists and health providers to ensure your care is coordinated and optimized for results.

Currently the only insurance that covers medical massage is Worker's Compensation through Homelink, Intercare, and Medrisk. However, FSA/HSA funds can be used towards any massage therapy used in our clinic as they're done in a medical setting. We can provide a superbill for your records and reimbursement.

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine officially came into my life during my third year at the University of Texas at Austin while pursuing my Bachelor’s of Science in Microbiology. I was stressed during midterms and was taking Claritin due to seasonal allergies. A friend of mine introduced me to South Austin Community Acupuncture during this time and after my first treatment, I instantly felt relief. I felt more calm and was able to think more clearly and the symptoms of my allergies such as runny nose, itchy red eyes, etc. were greatly reduced.

Seeing and being taught the limitations of Western Medicine and Pharmaceuticals during my undergraduate career, I realized that Traditional Chinese Medicine and its holistic view of the human body was more in line with my passion for helping others. However, I firmly believe the each medicine complements the other and the integration of both can greatly benefit every patient.

Combining my interests and hobbies of fitness, food, meditation, and helping others, I furthered my education by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer, CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, Certified Primal Health Coach, Certified Medical Qigong Practitioner, and Certified Sports and Orthopedic Medicine while here in California.

I enjoy helping people achieve their health goals by integrating nutrition, movement, meditation, and Traditional Chinese Medicine into my treatment plans. A good life is ultimately about balance and I hope that I can share that knowledge with all of my patients.

Currently Dr. Aaron is working with the NHL San Jose Sharks and AHL San Jose Barracuda as the team Licensed Acupuncturist and Dry Needling Therapist.

Dr. Aaron is treating on Saturdays and Sundays 9 AM-5 PM and Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 AM-6 PM. Dr. Aaron is fluent in English and some Mandarin chinese.
